The official Xbox Free Play Days post confirms three games free for ALL Xbox members with no Game Pass, Bleach Rebirth of Souls (Metacritic 71) and Killing Floor 3 (Mixed) ending Sunday July 26, For Honor through August 4. Steam's six-game free weekend and Train Fest both close Monday July 27, Firefighting Simulator leaves the free weekend early Sunday, and the forward calendar. Every end date checked.
Xbox Free Play Days: three games free for everyone, no Game Pass
The official Xbox Wire Free Play Days post (live July 23) quietly splits this weekend's lineup into two tiers, and the bigger news is the one that needs no subscription. Three games are free to play for any Xbox member, no Game Pass required:
Bleach Rebirth of Souls (Bandai Namco anime fighter, Metacritic 71 Mixed, though users rate it a Generally Favorable 8.2). Normally $59.99, on sale to keep at $23.99 (60% off). Ends Sunday, July 26.
Killing Floor 3 (Tripwire co-op horde shooter, Metacritic 68 Mixed, Steam reviews also Mixed). Normally $39.99, $19.99 to keep (50% off). Ends Sunday, July 26. Honest call: critics found it generic and thin for full price, but free-with-friends is the right price for a weekend of gory wave survival.
For Honor (Ubisoft melee combat, Metacritic 78 Generally Favorable). Free for all Xbox members on an extended window through Tuesday, August 4. The 2017 game reviewed well at launch.
The Game Pass side of the same post: Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Version ($19.99, 50% off to $9.99 to keep) runs through Sunday July 26 with a bonus day to Monday, July 27, and Tides of Tomorrow (DigixArt choice-driven narrative adventure, 4/5 TheXboxHub, $29.99 to $22.49) through Sunday, July 26. Both need Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential.
Steam: last full weekend for the six-game free weekend
Steam's free weekend (free to play, not to keep) runs six games through Monday, July 27 at 10am PT, so this is the last full weekend to marathon one. The standout is Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Version (app/2131630, 83% Very Positive, $9.99 to keep, beatable in roughly 12 hours), which overlaps the Xbox Free Play Days above if you'd rather play on console. Unrailed 2: Back on Track (88% Very Positive co-op track-builder), Icarus (76%, $6.99, DayZ creator's 8-player survival), Killing Floor 3 (Mixed 48%), and Wild Assault (Mixed 68%) round out the six.
One early-exit to flag: Firefighting Simulator: Ignite (80% Very Positive, 4-player UE5 co-op, also on PS Plus Extra) leaves the free weekend ahead of the others at Sunday, July 26 at 1pm PT. Today is the last full day to play it free. Discounts on several titles run past the free-play end (Icarus 80% off through July 30, Killing Floor 3 and Wild Assault through August 6).
Steam Train Fest closes Monday, last weekend for historic lows
The Steam Train Fest wraps Monday, July 27 at 10am PT, same moment as the free weekend above. Verified historic lows per GG.deals: Loco Motive $10.79 (40% off, comedic point-and-click train mystery, lowest ever), Overcrowd: A Commute 'Em Up $3.99 (80% off, station management, lowest ever), and Zoochosis $11.24 (55% off, horror train, lowest ever). Transport Fever 2 sits at $7.99 (80% off) and Last Train Home at $13.19 (67% off). Browse the full Trains category before the sale rolls out. Next up is the Cyberpunk Fest, August 3 to 10.
Epic and Steam free-to-keep: what's still claimable
Foretales (Alkemi narrative card game, $19.99, Metacritic 74, Steam Very Positive 86%) is still Epic's solo free game, claimable to keep through Thursday, July 30 at 8am PT. Epic's next pair, OTXO and Sol Cesto, goes free July 30 through August 6.
